Any suggestions from anyone of what to expect in the interview?

Dress nicely and be relaxed. The interviewers are almost always very friendly. Last year, the two central parts of my interview where what I plan on doing after undergrad and what interests/hobbies I have

Hey guys, I was wondering what classes I would have to take and what ECs I should join in order for transfer into MSB. I currently have a 3.769 GPA anticipating that number to rise to about 3.88 when the semester is over. I am a freshman at a CC in the Pittsburgh area and the current ECs that I am involved in are the Honors Program and getting inducted into PTK this semester, however I am still deciding whether to join Student Government or not. What I am uncertain about is how they weigh HS performance, do they add more weight if fewer credits are earned or put more weight on college GPA if more credits are earned? Also, list some suggestions on classes that I would have to take in order to have a shot to get into Georgetown MSB. See ya on the threads.

Have any of you had your interviews? I wish you all good luck!

^Nope. I’m gonna call them tomorrow.

Has anyone called to ask how many people applied? Think they’d give out that info?

I love Georgetown but I didn’t apply this year because I definitely would’ve gotten rejected. I’m thinking of transferring in one or two years if I can prove that I’m all that w/ ECs and GPA, but I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer (they’ve probably been answered already, but 121 pages is a bit much to go through):

Is it “easier” to transfer in for sophomore or junior year, or is it more dependent on the number of credits you have?

Does Georgetown provide any aid (merit, need-based, etc.) for transfers?

Thanks!

I don’t think it gets any easier, but someone please correct me if I’m wrong (and I hope I am for both of our sakes).

According to the website The Transfer Book, for Fall 2009 the freshman acceptance rate was 19.8% while the transfer acceptance rate was 14%. Just looking at the statistics themselves, it seems more difficult. On the other hand, going to a different college for one or two years gives you the opportunity to do well academically and in extracurriculars so you can put together a better application.

I’m on the quarter system so I just sent them my transcript with the last quarter’s grades for those asking about mid-term grades.

Hopefully the 4.0 will help me out.

Does anyone know when they’re going to send out the e-mails telling us if we’re missing any materials? I called the office of admissions this week and they told me they couldn’t tell me over the phone and that the e-mail might be coming in the next week or so.

^Yes if you are missing anything and they will give you two weeks,

So here is a question that I WOULD REALLY REALLY appreciate if someone could answer.

Georgetowns announcment for transfers is on June 1st, so can I correctly assume that there is a big enough window there to be able to send them updated Spring 2011 transcripts?

Spring 11 grades would help my case immensely

I guess I’ll call and ask but I was wondering if anyone knew beforehand. .

Im not sure but last year i think the earliest acceptance was april 29.

According to Georgetown’s FB page transfer applications are being reviewed!!!

“Transfer committees are busy reviewing applications. Thanks to everyone who applied!”

^Nice. When I called last week this is exactly when they said they would begin to review them.

@Pinkstuffz so they don’t send them all at once??

Hey everyone! I just have a quick question about the mid-term form. I’ve had mine filled out on the common app (since that’s what all my other schools are on). I know Georgetown doesn’t require midterm grades anyway so do you think it would look bad to send the same common app form? I’ve done well this semester and I’d like Georgetown to know!

@anontransfer. I dont know, missing papers and other factors delay acceptances. And i think some here by email. Might want to double check by looking thru old threads.

@sarah. I don’t think sending midterm grades to Georgetown using the common app would be the best idea because the school specifically has chosen NOT to use the common app. I think the best thing to do in this situation is to call them and see if you can mail in an offical copy. Hope this helps.
