Has anyone heard anything? I’m getting pretty anxious.

I think we’re all still waiting on the edge of our seats.

Also, new threat here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1128896-official-georgetown-university-transfer-thread-2011-a-2.html

Whats up fellow prospective gtown transfers?! I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback on my chances? Let’s all hope for acceptances!

high school GPA: 3.91(UW), many AP’s
college GPA: 4.0
ACT: 30
letter of rec: very strong, from a professor that I had a pretty good relationship, but not in my major
EC’s: pretty strong, I had an internship this year as a freshman, was the president of my senior class, all-state choir, cheer captain, etc.

what do you guys think? any feedback would be appreciated!

I just finished my freshman year at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachussetts. I’m considering applying to Georgetown as a transfer student because of my interest in their finance program.

My high school record is extremely unimpressive, GPA : 3.06.
My SAT wasn’t very high either: 1830/2400
Wasn’t very involved either except for Model United Nations and some extracurricular community service.

However, now in college i have a 3.7 GPA, I was recently accepted in the honors program at my school. Have an analyst position in the Bentley Investment Group which manages upwards of $600,000 of the university’s endowment in the financials sector. I’m interning at UBS in Manhattan this summer, and hope to start investing some of my own money during this upcoming fall semester to show some of my transfer schools that I am learning more and more about finance, and managing my own portfolio.

What do you think my chances might be if I applied for junior year to Georgetown?

Thanks,
Deepak

I was looking into transfer requirements for Georgetown and am wondering about one part that isn’t quite clear to me:

“High school transcripts are required for all applicants, as well as SAT and/or ACT scores. If, however, a transfer applicant has been out of high school for more than 5 years, the SAT/ACT requirement is waived.”

I have been out of high school for 5 years now and am assuming the high school transcripts are waived also? I have a 4.0 and am wondering as a transfer student, how much extracurriculars or other factors matter? I’ve heard from a lot of people with much lower gpas and no extracurriculars that got into a TON of good schools, mostly ucs… Are uc’s anywhere close in comparison to georgetown? Or even GWU? Am not extremely familiar with east coast schools being from CA. Thank you!!!

Hello,
I am currently studying in Korea and considering of transferring to Georgetown
I have several questions

(1) Picking transfer applicants, what does Georgetown mostly look at? SATs?Essays?GPAs? I know all is important, but which one of these do they look at the most?:)

(2) Does Georgetown have a lot of course for undergraduates majoring in law?

(3) How does my chance look of getting accepted?

Current college GPA: 4.21
SAT score: 1850s

Thank you so much!

Hello I am thinking of transferring to Georgetown from The College of New Jersey, but I am only a freshman now. Will this hurt me?

SATs 1360 (2030)
Potential College GPA (according to how my classes are going this semester) - 3.8+

I’d be transferring into the College, or is Computer Science in a different school?

What do you think?

Hello, I am a freshman currently attending the University of Delaware as an International Relations major, but am thinking of pursuing the economics or political economy major.

HS GPA: 3.5 (upward trend)
1st semester college: 3.7-4.0
Verbal: 670
Math: 580 (a little low I know)

Marching Band for 5 years.
Boy Scouts; Eagle Scout, hundreds of hours of community service etc…

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to ask regardless.
I am looking to transfer out of a highly selective liberal arts school in Virginia.
My GPA to finish off the year should be a 3.5-3.7. This is high as the average GPA here is around a 3.0 and it is quoted as an Ivy League level institution.
I was wondering what my chanced would be in applying to Georgetown as a transfer student.
My HS GPA was a 3.5 at a Prep School here in VA, and my SAT was a 1850/2400. Also, I applied to Georgetown last year. I would like to transfer into the College and major in Government, or maybe try to get into the McDonough B-school.
I am Puerto Rican and speak spanish fluently.
If you could get back to me I’d really appreciate it!

What are my chances for being accepted as a transfer student?

From Ithaca College (1 year):

Georgetown is my first choice for next year, thank you!

I am a freshmen at UVM looking to transfer.

I will have 30 credits at the end of the year. My GPA for the semester seems like it will be between a 3.7 and 3.8.
my high school GPA was a 3.7 (mostly ap and honors.)
SAT 1800/2400

EC: Undergraduate Research (25-35 hours a week) in a transplant surgery lab at the school of medicine. Have a chance on getting my name on a paper that would be in a very good research journal.

Also i am in the school of engineering but i am changing to premed at my new school.

College courses so far:
Chemistry
Biology
Anthropology
Calculus I

hi, guys. anyone who answers me, i’d appreciate it very much. looking at all the stats and posts here I realize that I probably don’t stand a lot of chance but I am going to ask anyways.

I study at GWU and have a GPA of around 3.4. I am studying international affairs and have been in various clubs but most importantly, International Society club. Also, I’ve had internship in DC such as Department of Defense, Embassy of Korea, and library of Congress. Having said that, that should tell you that I am transferring as a junior.

My high school stats were average. I had a gpa of 3.3 and had SAT score of 2110 and attended a blue ribbon school. What do you guys think my chances are getting into Georgetown university - college? Please chance me and I’ll chance you back. Thank you so much.

Chances for transferring into Georgetown College?

Sophomore at Penn State University Park studying political science and history with a cumulative GPA of 3.92 (I received a 4.0 this past semester).

SAT: 2030

High school GPA: 3.6 weighted, 3.4 unweighted

Akim325 - Decent to good depending on your M+CR
JeenOh - Poor, that SAT score is gonna be a problem
MCYfan - Decent
Transfer42 - Decent-low, SAT score again
eljamo17 - hard to make a judgment without knowing the college, but nothing stands out, decent-low depending on the institution
Rsme2005 - decent-low, SAT and GPA could both use improvement
UltravioletBaby3 - good, depending on your M+CR

Couple things:

I’m eighteen. My only qualification to judge you is that I have also been unfortunately embroiled in this process for far too long.

SATs do not a person make, but for Georgetown you really want to have over a 1300 on M+CR at the absolute minimum. Sorry to be so harsh, but it’s important to set realistic expectations for yourself, especially if your GPA isn’t strong enough to offset poor testing.

I just did the ones on this page, not sure if there are more, but really, guys, if there are seven unanswered “chance me” posts on one thread, odds are no one’s going to get around to it unless they’re in a generous mood.

No offense meant and best of luck to you all.

@francis what does M+CR mean?

Math plus Critical Reading. Georgetown doesn’t consider the Writing portion, unfortunately.

Guessing that also means they don’t consider the writing portion of the ACT?

You are correct, anontransfer.
