Georgetown Transfer Questions

Yep, that’s what they say here: [International Applicant - Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/international/)

Not sure why it’s under the international student tab, but I assume it’s the same for all applicants.

I saw a bunch of people listing their travel experience in their “chance me.” Does Georgetown consider this factor, particularly when applying to SFS?

hey guys, would you guys mind chancing me please?
3.3-3.4 college GPA at GWU and have SAT of 1370 excluding the writing portion. If included it is 2110. I’ll be a junior standing with three internships and extracurricular activities. Please Please be generous and chance me!

you jumped my post lol i was wondering if there is a problem with my chance thread? if you come back, would you mind chancing me?

@shadowzoid I can’t imagine a need-blind school would consider worldwide travel experience, but who knows.

Hello, I know that there are a ton of posts like this but I am curious of my chances.

I also forgot to list that I will have an internship that will begin in the summer and last throughout the school year. Also I am planning on joining several other organizations upon my return, as well as increasing the amount that I volunteer.

I would make sure you talk about that in on of your essays.

entomom/mods - there are a few Georgetown transfer threads. Any chance we could try to consolidate for those of us tracking this?

H.S. GPA:3.72
SATs: 1420/1600

College GPA:3.7

lift it up! very good thread for gtown transfer applicant

Who else here is hoping to transfer into SFS for fall admission?

Hi
I’m a nontraditional student - I work full time at an Admin position and I’ve applied for McDonough Business school. I’ve completed 57 credits at a community college this semester and I have a 4.0 GPA. I’ve been a part time student though (I’ve taken 2 classes per semester and 2 in the summer for 2.5 years now, so I’ve taken 6 classes a year Vs 8 that a full time student would have taken).
Extracurricular - I don’t have a lot because I work full time but I am a volunteer commissioner for the city (appointed by the mayor). I also should mention that I moved to America in 2007 so I’m sort of an international student as well.
Since the day I enrolled in community college I have wanted to go to GTown. What do you think my chances are for getting in? This waiting game is nerve wrecking.

Thank you!!!

How much do SATs count in the transfer admissions process for Junior transfer?

I’m going to my safety school and am thinking of tranferring to Georgetown University and other top schools. Should I worry about getting a high SAT score and SAT subject tests this summer?

The SAT is the only thing that held me back from getting into Georgetown freshmen year…how much are they required for transfer admissions?

Thanks.

You may never know what it was that stopped them from admitting you as a freshman. There’s an element of unpredictability to elite school admissions I guess.

Anyways, I got in as a junior transfer with awful SATs. But, at the same token I had a high HS and college gpa and numerous unique outside factors- research published, international volunteer work teaching English, etc. That said, I honestly think they look for something that stands out about you-- something they don’t have already, paired with a solid, maintained gpa. Just focus on your major and do the most creative, passionate things you can to prove you are serious about what you are in college for at all.

Good luck!

hey guys,

so i received an email today (around 8pm) about setting up an alumni interview, i was wondering if they sent this to all the applicants? i was a little bit surprised that they sent this email so late, especially since some people have been accepted already. do you think they will even consider this portion of the application? it’s also strange since when i was applying, georgetown said that this portion of the interview was optional and would only be to gain more information about the college and wouldnt affect the transfer process in any way. anyway, i called the alumni contact about an hour after i got the email and she too seemed surprised that georgetown wished for an interview so late in the process.

any thoughts?

I think you should call the admission office. When I had my interview my interviewer said “I am glad we are doing this week because I just got a notification that the interview evluation deadline is the end of this week” and that was over one month ago. Maybe you got an email that was sent months ago?

@sophalof: i talked to admissions and they said it was a glitch in their system and they’re trying to get it fixed on their part. they said decisions for interviews were wrapped up in mid-april. that’s funny cause i already scheduled my interview (it’s today actually). i guess i’ll just go and use it as an opportunity to learn more about the school.

if we have not heard back yet, can it be assumed we have been rejected? it’s already may 15
