georgia tech called me

and asked for my schools grading scale, which i was unable to provide. Did it say somewhere int he application for the grading scale? It’s 1-100 and she kept on asking me what a A or a B was and to look at my transcript. I told her that there was no conversion from numericals to letter grades…and she told me it was a courtesy call to get my app processed. I sent this app Oct 31st. so I was of course like huh?. Why couldnt they call my school? I am really really worried. This this disqualify me from the presidential scholarship?

Hopefully you got the name of the person who called you and possibly a phone number. If a name and no phone you should be able to get the number by digging on the tech website or google gatech phone book or doing a search on the tech site.

If you did not get the name that’s a bigger problem but here is my suggestion.

Go to your school guidance counslor in the am with your cell phone. Shows willingness to put the call on your dime and your intense desire to go to Tech to your GC. It may provide motivation to them to help.

Talk to the GC about the call and see if you can call the number, person or admissions together so that tech gets what they need.

The return phone call shows tech your maturity and desire to attend. At the end of the call ask about what this means to your PS possibilities. Again at the end. The first order of the day is getting in. the PS is third after showing what a mature thoughtful student you would make.

Good luck. Hope to see you in the fall. Check some of the other threads for info on how competive the PS is.

Thats not the kind of thing that would disqualify you but it is kind of an odd phone call.

They want to convert your grades to a “GT GPA”, using some formula (basically the same way they do GPA here A->4, B-> 3, etc) but they weigh some classes heavier if you took honors, AP, etc.

I would go to your GC at your high school and they will be able to help you. In fact, its their job. Have he/she call GT and answer their questions on your behalf.

Make an appointment with the GC, explain the whole situation and ask nicely if they would call on your behalf. It would look good for you that someone at your high school is going out of their way to help you and its possible GT may have more questions.

You don’t need to bring your cell phone and I would have them make the call. Its part of their job and I honestly don’t see them saying no.

Good luck!

Yea, i told my GC yesterday and apparently she called ga tech and they siad my app was complete?
