Georgia Tech Class of 2024 RD

Hi, Who do you contact, if a student want to transfer to GT. Do they help you transfer , Are counselors available to guide students or not? Please share info about it, thanks!

@shamli where u transferring from?

I also need to know. We also applied to GSU and hope he gets accepted and then transferred.

Thank you. I hope he get transferred from GSU. We are still waiting from 5 schools. Lets see. Yesterday I found out that he didn’t write good essays, with that stats my DS was way too cocky .

@tackofall same here. I’m mad

My son isn’t mad. He wishes he got accepted to all the schools he applied to give him choices and boost his ego, but he still has good options. Six acceptances, one rejection and two waitlists. You will likely be happy wherever you go.

Any one knows when the Financial Aid letter will be available?

Hi, I was recently waitlisted. I received an email a few days ago from the office of Scholarships & Financial Aid saying my financial aid application was incomplete. According to the website, "If you are accepted from the waitlist, the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid (OSFA) will notify you of the status of your financial aid application. ". I think I’m giving myself false hope but could this be good news or did all waitlist applicants receive this?

@hp1011802 The incomplete status emails are automated emails sent to those who haven’t satisfied something. Unless you get a personalized email from an actual GT financial aid advisor (or something that doesn’t look generic/automated), I would take these emails lightly.

Hi…looking for some advice…I’m from New York and currently deciding between UCLA, UC Berk and Georgia Tech. I am a bio major and possibly pre-med or pre-dental track. I got a scholarship at Georgia Tech for their in state tuition so it come out to 30k/year I think while UCLA and UC Berk would be around 60k to 65k respectively. Cost really isn’t an issue and I could attend the UC’s if I wanted but I’m definitely hesitant on if going to the UC’s (which are maybe objectively a better academic school and better for my major) would be worth almost double the price.

Additionally, I’m concerned between the sizes of each school. The UCs are about 30,000 undergrad students while GT would be about 15,000. Do you think there is an issues of lack of research opportunities, mentorships, and individualized attention at the UC’s? Although they might be better schools, if opportunities are harder to come by compared to GT then I would also be more inclined to go to GT.

I guess what I’m asking is while the UC schools are probably academically better and better for my major, is it better enough to be worth the significant price difference? If you look at attending college more as an economic investment, would paying the extra to go to the UC’s make it easier to get into good grad schools and jobs? Is it worth the difference? Thanks sm in advance

Has anyone gotten a financial aid or award letter yet?

@bellarie143 No.

@PuppyM thank you for responding! I only ask because I have to respond to another offer by April 7 and am very worried that no aid will come out by that time :confused: guess we’ll see! Any ideas on when it would be released?

I got an email from them (after asking a month or so ago) when it would be out and they said first week of April. Im not sure if it was referring to this week, seeing as it is almost Friday with nothing, or if they were referring to the first “full” week of April (next week). We’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

@bellarie143 I heard first week of April.

Hi everyone and hope you are all well. My son (OOS) applied EA to GT and was deferred to RD, then waitlisted. We assumed we were done and moved on. Today he received an email saying he was accepted! Anyone else receive one of these emails? His portal has been updated as well so it is legit. I thought waitlists weren’t considered until after May 1. I assume the current medical/financial situation worldwide is having an effect on college admissions…?

@joiebug Last year people started coming of the waitlist in mid April so this year they are only a few days earlier. Congrats to your son.

Hi, my son got Offer of Admission from Waitlist (OOS), he applied for CS as first choice and Neurology as second major, but there is nothing say which major he was admitted, how to check his admitted major ?

Scroll to the bottom of the application status summary page, the last line is “Field of Study:” with admitted major information.
