Georgia Tech class of 2024 waitlist thread

I just got off the waitlist (oos)

My OOS friend from MA got in

Just got off today OOS for math

My son got off the waitlist today. OOS (MD), major is Math. This was his 1st choice so we will be accepting.

For those of you who got off the waitlist, was there any indication in your portal before you actually heard? Also, congratulations to all!

Congrats to all those who made it. How are they informing ? Email or call ?

Looks like no in-states yet :frowning:

@AnxiousDad1 They emailed me in the morning!

Got email first and also text after 30 mins saying “offered admission, please check your email for more details”. Portal also got updated when I checked. I would say email is the first communication. Hope this helps.

Very helpful - Thanks @cupcakes833 and @uvalover2020 - Congrats and wish both of you the very best !!!

Congratulations to all the folks who came off the waitlist. I believe, so far all the acceptances today are from OOS

Can you folks please write your major and if you were accepted in that major?

I just got off the waitlist! I applied for as a Pure Mathematics Major (Alternate Major: Applied Mathematics). 2 days to pay the enrollment/housing deposits… :worried:

@calcuttaboy2002 im not sure how to check what major i got in for, but i applied as a Computational Media major and my alternate was Computer Science

I don’t think any in-state got in or will get in? This is so not fair

Yes - Quite disappointing indeed. Last year the in-state acceptance rate was around 40.2%. My guess is with the Covid-19 situation the acceptances might have been much higher this year.

@AnxiousDad1 the in state acceptance rate was actually a little lower at 38% this year, but it is the yield rate that is the concern. Last year the in state yield was 64% and is typically in the mid 60s. I am sure it is higher this year and OOS is lower. They will try and keep the in vs out class split they want. That means the waitlist will be mostly OOS to make up for the lower yield. In state will probably be the last to come off this year. Not until they get enough OOS to balance the class.

Ah got it - Thanks @racereer

I got off the waitlist yesterday! I applied as a history technology and society major. I am planning to commit!!

I have been on the waitlist for a while now and I was just wondering if they might accept more OOS in the future?

@hp1011802 are you OOS or IS? Thanks!

@GATECHMOM1: How is the math program at tech?
