Georgia Tech Class of 2028 Official Thread

I am waitlisted, concludingly reject

When they can provide the exact number of waitlisted and who joined the list, I don’t understand why they can’t provide the exact number who got off the waitlist. They are vague in providing a range from recent years. This is really brutal for students. It’s as good as a rejection.

Shouldn’t it be available in their CDS?

Thanks, looks like it was 60(out of 4,016 who accepted a place) who got off the waitlist last year.

Yep. Basically should treat is as a rejection and move forward. And if it happens, you can reevaluate at that time.

ā€œā€¦we have offered admission to as few as 50 and as many as 1,250 students on the waitlist.ā€

Yeah, that’s not a consistent range.

Daughter waitlist. She’s not keeping waitlist spot.

D24 got in after EA deferral, CS major. We’re so excited!

Seems like lots of CS majors are now being accepted after an intial defer. Interesting

Waitlisted. Anyone else confused by the figures on the letter? 3,900 accepted out of 60k? Isn’t this a 7% acceptance rate, down from 17%???

3900 is the class size, not the admitted number. They let in more than they think will enroll because not everyone commits. And if they still don’t have enough in the class, they will take from waitlist.

did GT release any stats? What did the letter say exactly?

The Committee for Undergraduate Admission has reviewed your application to the Georgia Institute of Technology. This year, we received nearly 60,000 applications for a first-year class of 3,900.

At this time, we are unable to offer you admission. However, because of the impressive performance you demonstrated throughout your high school career, we hope you will consider joining our waitlist.

You must accept or decline your waitlist spot by Friday, April 5, 2024 via the Waitlist Offer Reply Form in your admission portal.

Students on the waitlist are evaluated based upon the information submitted in their original application and the Waitlist Offer Reply Form. If space is available in our first-year class, we will offer admission based on the needs remaining to shape our class.

After our deposit deadline in early May we will determine if we have met our class goal and contact you if space becomes available.

We understand you and your family may have questions about timing and other details. We have answered many of these on our waitlist FAQ page.

If you have any questions after reviewing this page, please contact our office.

Based on yield, probably 15% admit rate? A little over 10% OOS?

Yeah, probably around there.

Fall of 2023 if you had My Award Letter under Financial Aid hyperlink in Oscar you were in. Not sure if that worked this fall or not.

That 1250 was Covid year fall of 2020. Lots of people either went closer to home or took a gap year. Not seen before or since. 60 last year came off. Typically 2% acceptance rate off waitlist.

Typically 10 percent admit rate for RD.

Did anyone get financial award info? My son accessed OSCAR but said that it said waiting on FAFSA, which most of us are due to processing, but most CSS schools are giving estimates in lieu of FAFSA info.

For future applicants: son applied RD and waitlisted for engineering. OOS with a 1510 SAT, top 5% of class, 98 UW GPA, 9 APs (all 5s/4s), and varsity/club sports & leadership. Even though a long shots, he’ll be accepting a spot on the waitlist.
