Thank you - you too! And again sorry if I caused any stress.
Well if Provost is announced in April, I guess that means we will have to hold out hope until April. Was hoping to know for sure today. I know Tech is undertaking some significant fundraising to increase scholarships for OOS students and they even say on their website that they lose a lot of accepted OOS students every year due to the prohibitive cost. Iām glad to know they are working toward this for future students and less of them will have to take the road we will likely have to take of turning down our offer due to cost. I guess this is part of the tension that a state school that is really more like a prestigious private university has to live in and grapple with. We are in Alabama and almost everyone I talk to thinks Tech is a private school. Anyway, regardless of outcome on the Provost, Iām planning to donate a paltry amount to their scholarship fund to show Iām with them in spirit and I would encourage everyone else to do the same. All the best to everyone waiting to hear about Provost!
e admitted OOS.
If you are Stamps semi finalist and make it to the weekend but donāt get Stamps you will get Gold scholarship which I think is the same as Provost (brings tuition to in state rate). There may be other benefits as well.
Do you think that the provost is announced after RD? It says 2 weeks after decisions, which may be RD mostly, so it may mean that stamps semifinalists who didnāt make it to finalists may still be eligible since they are not scholarship recipients yet.
I think acceptance at EA is required for scholarship consideration, so my guess is no.
One of the moms on the GT28 Facebook group emailed the scholarship office and the Provost Scholarships have been awarded. She posted the email, so is legit. FYI for any OOS families hoping against hope for help with costs.
And thatās actually WRONG!! The scholarship director emailed me that the awards havenāt been decided and will go out around the time of financial aid decisions in April. So sorry for the misinformation!!
Hi all, so hoping someone can help us figure out the freshman housing process/next steps. If we are reading correctly, sounds like the housing app opened for fall 2024 freshman on 1/29/24? And the earlier you put in your app/find a roommate the earlier your housing selection slot, with the clock starting already in January? And to apply for housing you have to have already accepted your GT offer, which has a 1-2 day processing time before your housing app would be available? And if you get selected for the honors program, which is supposed to announce their acceptances 3/11, based on past yearsā history if you donāt accept ON 3/11 you will be closed out of honors and waitlisted for honors (and if you donāt put in for honors HOUSING on 3/11 you wonāt get that, which mean you would have had to accept your GT offer a few days before 3/11 to allow for processing time and getting in the housing system)? Forgive all the questions, Iām hoping we have some of this wrong but if this is true Iām wondering if they are trying to give these kids nervous breakdowns. If a student wants a shot at better housing they are supposed to accept their offer before financial aid is even discussed?? What housing is possibly left for RD applicants?
No other schools weāve experienced so far have anything like this. Purdue for example, which is also quite tight on housing, has already announced honors acceptances and while it has an earlier priority housing date than offer acceptance deadline (was mid April for priority housing, while overall acceptance deadline was 5/1), they just pushed the priority housing date to 5/5 and offer acceptance back to 5/15 due to the FAFSA being delayed. To be clear, they do still require you to accept your offer before applying for housing just like GT.
Iām really hopefully weāre interpreting this wrong and someone here can guide us back on the path!! Even if GT moves out their final offer acceptance date due to FAFSA delays, that doesnāt seem to change the honors/overall housing gameā¦
I cannot comment on the honors housing situation. Every person who accepts their offer by May 1 will have housing on campus. The later you sign up, the fewer choices you will have unless you decide to room with somebody who has a higher selection number. That being said, the dorms are all very similar, with the honors dorm being the only available apartment style dorm for freshman.
To get in line for housing you do have to pay the required fees.
The biggest question is whether a student wants to live on the east campus or West campus. There will be dorms available on both very late in the process.
Thanks for this perspective!
There are two due dates for honors LLC application and two result release dates (the second one is April for the RD and deferred students) and itās rolling decision after that still. There are recorded honors program webinars to watch as well as future ones to sign up for so you can ask questions. I donāt think you have to accept your honors invite, if you get one, instantly, but the longer you take to decide could work against you if others have committed because space is limited in the program.
Roommate selection doesnāt happen until later. If you commit and fill out the housing application you are paying the one time fee and signing the contract, not much else. The housing website has a step by step guide for the contract that is really helpful.
This is anecdotal, but a friendās son didnāt commit until the May 1st deadline and has great housing and even did well with a ārandomā roommate. I recommend going through the housing website, it is very helpful. Best wishes!
Edited to add, the explore LLC also has apartment style housing for first years now.
Hello, I am new here, and would like your inputs. Our DD has admission at GT for Fall '24. Some of her friends are deferred (in state). What are the options when in deferred? Accepted or Rejected? Or can they be sent to Conditional? We are trying to finalize roommates based on that. When do we need to finalize roommates? Thank you.
Decisions for in-state students come out this Friday, March 1st. Possible outcomes for previously deferred kids are: accepted, denied, or waitlisted. The chance of being called from the waitlist is less than 2%. Your DDās friends will know very soon so they can make plans accordingly.
Regarding roommates,

Housing Info Session,
This info is helpful, thank you.
You are very welcome!
Are the decisions rolling out today?
They already came out. But it was for In-state students only. OOS probably two weeks from today if I had to guess. Thatās how it was for EA.
Ok thanks I saw it in the decision calendar. Looks like it is only in-state then
Denied, in state, male, 4.5, 12 APs, 1420, Eagle Scout, my advice is to be very careful before getting your hopes up for this school.
