Georgia Tech Essay- quick question

The Georgia tech essay prompt 1 seems similar to the UC (University of California) essay prompt 2. Are they similar enough that one could use the same essay for both? I am having a hard time seeing any significant differences. I have the same answer for both prompts.

GA TECH essay

Discuss a cultural, social, political, or intellectual topic that you have explored beyond school and explain how it has shaped who
you are today.

UC essay

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Umm…They are really similar. However, the UC topic focuses more on something you have done, while the GA Tech topic focuses more on your interests. If you change up your accomplishment essay a little bit and direct the focus more to the why instead of the what, I think it would be fine.

Lol. I applied to both colleges as well  But I wrote about two completely different things

The Georgia Tech essay is more geared towards an intellectual pursuit that helped shape you white the UC essay is looking more for a personal attribute/skill that makes you unique. It is possible that they could overlap depending on your chosen response, but they are not the same question. You will be fine as long as you let the admissions committee know why you are you and not just numbers on paper! If you feel your essay addresses both prompts in a way that best represents your uniqueness I would stick with it, but if you have essay ideas that suit each prompt more appropriately and you are simply trying to get out of writing another essay you might end up selling yourself short to those reviewing your application.
