According to the “special requirements” for mechanical engineering:
"In general, international students pursuing a terminal M.S. degree will not be admitted, with three exceptions:
Students who are applying to study at the Georgia Tech Lorraine campus.
Students who are Fulbright Fellowship awardees (or with fellowships from their home countries that pay tuition and fees along with a stipend for living expenses).
Students who graduated with the B.S.M.E. from Georgia Tech."
Worth applying to the mechanical engineering PhD program, as an international student? Any additional requirements there?
My guess is that applying for a PhD is fine. The reason is that they probably are trying to limit the number of terminal MS applicants because it is often the case that students come in to this program expecting that funding will be available once they arrive and this is just not the case. Another possibility is that they are trying to limit the number of MS theses that are needed to be supervised. I suspect that MEng applicants are welcome since there is no research/thesis requirement and there is an understanding that is is completely self-funded.
