I’ve been accepted to both JHU and Georgia Tech, and I want to study Computer Science. I know JHU is known for its medical research, and am not sure how its CS ranks compared to Georgia Tech. Since this is only undergrad, I’m not sure if it matters very much. Which of the two schools would be a better choice to attend; I am planning on attending Graduate School eventually. Would one or the other increase my chances of getting accepted into a better Graduate School, or getting a better entry-level job?
Both of them have great computer science departments, although Georgia Tech is better-known for CS. You can get into an excellent graduate program from either. Job-wise, GT might have a slight edge in the high-tech sector.
Both are good schools, but GA Tech is more known for CS, while JH is known for pre-med.
Son went to GT and CS is better and I’d bet many, many more high tech and other firms recruit there. If cost is not issue, I’d go to Tech.
For CS, GT
Hopkins has both computer engineering and computer science, so the breadth is there. Hopkins for science in general is very strong. Have a friend in EE/CS faculty, and they are highly respected, so you cannot go wrong. GT is formidable is CS.
