<p>Is there a big difference in the grading between lecture sections? Usually, professors of large lecture sections (100+ students) for the same course assign grades using their own methodology that can result in significant differences, but does that also happen in small lecture sections? Would the German department have more influence over the instructors, who are usually graduate students, in assigning grades than another department does, for example math, because math professors are usually tenured faculty?</p>
<p>It all depends on who teach your course. I took German R5A last semester and the instructor was extremely horrid. She would only give like 1-2 A and rest were B & Cs or even lower… I don’t think the German dept has control over the grading since most people in the class had to email her regarding her harsh grading policy (which she never changed). I think our class average was a B- to a B? Oh she was an undergrad student too.</p>
