If true, it’s interesting that both with this and the Dallas shooting, reports of multiple gunmen will have turned out to be untrue, and in each case there was only one.
German police say a gunman who went on a shooting rampage at a busy mall in Munich likely acted alone, and then committed suicide after killing nine people in cold blood.
I don’t think Isis will be claiming this one – an Iranian-German (and therefore a Shiite) who cursed Turks. It wouldn’t surprise me if his victims turn out to have been Muslims themselves.
Most of the victims were teenagers. Very sad. And the Munich shooter was born and raised in Munich, not an immigrant himself.
He had been doing research on killing rampages and picked the fifth anniversary of the shootings in Norway to do his own.
Remember the song “I don’t like Mondays”? I feeling nostalgic for a time when these shootings were so rare and horrible that musicians would write songs about them. There was one at a McDonald’s back then too.
I’m sure part of it is the ricochet effect of the sound in a space with a lot of surfaces (i.e. the street in Dallas, or in a mall). And the bullets themselves may ricochet and thus actually be coming at one from various directions.
This sounds like the shooter was simply someone obsessed with mass killing without any kind of ideological bent. Doesn’t make it any less horrible, and the one thing that is terrible IMO is that as mass killings seemingly increase, whether driven by ideology or not, it is likely that those sick people who get thrill out of mass murder will engage in copycat acts, jealous of the publicity those who commit other acts do.
