Another day, another violent incident.
Oh my gosh!
Good Lord, when will these awful people ever stop?
Thank the stars he had an axe instead of a gun. I shudder at the possible carnage that could’ve been.
New info says 15 injured.
Actually it’s three people injured seriously, one less seriously, and a bunch of other people who got really upset and were treated for shock. The attacker may have been a young Afghan refugee, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
Confirmed by the Interior Minister. He was admitted as an unaccompanied minor. Some report hearing him shout “Allahu Akbar”.
This is becoming a daily occurrence.
The new trend:
Soft targets and killing using common tools rather than with unambiguous weapons.
17-year old Afghan refugee admitted last year. Not what people imagine when they talk about admitting child refugees, I guess.
Munich under attack. Shooting rampage in a shopping mall. Attackers still at large. City on lockdown.
And there’s the carnage I feared in post 3
I reckon the only takeaway from this continuing disaster is going to be that Germany’s gun & ax laws are clearly too lax.
@albert69:
Except note something with the train incident, 20 people were hurt, none died. If that guy had a gun, especially a high powered gun, a high percentage of those people might be dead. Not to mention that someone with an axe or a knife is a lot easier to get away from or subdue than someone from 20 feet away opening up with a gun.
And Germany even with these terrorist attacks likely has a tiny percentage of the mass shootings we do here…and I’ll leave it at that.
And now the attack in Munich. This HAS to stop!
In the train/axe incident 5 people were injured. The rest were treated for psychological shock. It’s still pretty awful - imagine being attacked with an axe, ugh, but it’s not a rapid fire or even slow fire, long distance weapon.
In the train/axe attack, a social worker recognized the young man and called police when he started attacking people in the next car. It was tourists from Hong Kong who were injured as well as a German woman walking her dog outside the train.
It’s ironic, in an awful way, that the attack in Munich happened at the “Olympia” shopping center, given what we all know happened at the 1972 Munich Olympics. I have to wonder if the attackers chose the location deliberately, with that in mind.
It was at the McDonalds. Not sure if that was intentional.
I bet the location was chosen deliberately, especially given that this is an Olympic year.
Jym26, it may have started at a McDonald’s with one of the gunmen, but there were 3 gunmen, apparently, throughout the shopping mall.
The gunman reportedly killed children as they ate in McDonald’s.
