Getting a 'D' for Accounting - Would ignorance be a good excuse?

<p>K guys, will make this short. I scored a ‘d’ for my Advance Subsidiary Level exam (AS Level). This subject is actually optional just like very other subject. I took up this subject because I felt taking just 4 subjects was not enough. Well, yeah I did not like this subject and thus performed badly in the paper. I guess it will make my GPA lower. If I were to use the excuse that I took it up by mistake(my mistake) and that the subject is optional, would it be counterproductive?</p>

<p>FYI, most people on this website probably have no idea what AS Levels are.</p>

<p>In short, if you’re applying to a liberal arts program, then yes, colleges will care about accounting regardless of whether or not it is your major. There’s nothing you can really do to change your grade, so do your best to explain it without sounding whiny/making excuses and hope for the best.</p>

<p>Honestly don’t blame anything or anyone, it happens and colleges will look at it but hopefully it will not be against count against you.</p>

<p>And that is why you didn’t do well in the course. So what? Just because you didn’t like the course doesn’t mean you are excused from doing well in it. There are going to be many things you may not like to do in the real world, yet you are going to have to do them well to succeed. You don’t attach a little note to your failures as an excuse that makes it all better.</p>
