is the difference between an 8 essay and a 10 essay just the analysis? Like if you have more analysis will you get a higher score or does it really not matter?
I was just wondering cuz that’s what I heard
thank you :)

Pretty much: longer essay, thesis clearly stated and clear transitions is the difference between an 8 and 10 in my opinion

In my experience, here are the things you need to score double digits on essays:
- Proof that your example supports your thesis. You do this by showing how things might have been different if you example took a different approach. (Too many test takers just give the background information about their example and never show why it supports the thesis).
- Word choice. You need to use 3 or 4 higher level vocab words. Be careful not to use too many, though.
- Transitions. You need them between paragraphs and between some sentences.
- Varied sentence structure. You need some long, complex sentences (those that start with a dependent clause) and some short, simple sentences.
