In regards to the University’s of California…
The UC App is due in less than 2 weeks…i think i can get a job within that time…do u think getting a job will help my chances…i heard that UCB consider work exp. on the app…ITS listed on princetonreview.com as an “Important Factor”

Significantly. You should do it. It would totally not be a complete and utter waste of time and energy.

this is stupid in my opinion. The UC application asks how often you have worked, how long, and what your jobs include. You can’t possibly think couple hours of work will change your application at all. And just because princeton review deems something important, doesn’t mean it is expected of you.

it will make you look like an idiot on the UC App

I honestly don’t know if I am a chump for answering what seems to be a joke question. At least for the benefit of others, I will say what is repeatedly mentioned here and in most college admissions books.

Getting a job or doing any EC activity at the last minute before your application is due is obviously a transparent attempt at padding your resume. Unless you have a serious recent problem with family finances that you can explain, you should not mention it, regardless of taking a new job or not. If UCB does regard it as important, it will be because you have put many hours, if not years into doing this activity–either from desire to learn or from necessity to assist your family.
