Hi, I’m currently a transfer student that can’t make up my mind. I’m majoring in chemistry and want to get a bs in chem at a CSU and then get my masters at a UC.Is this a good idea?
in truth, where you get your BS doesn’t matter that much, I’d encourage you to map a path to at least one UC using the TAG framework AND a couple of CSUs - including a non-impacted campus so you will be sure to continue your educational progress.
good luck
It sounds like a perfectly reasonable plan. Wherever you transfer to, get involved in research projects and make connections with professors who can write recommendations. Keep up your grades and make a good showing on the GRE and you should be good to go.
Also, many CSUs offer masters degrees in chemistry, notably SJSU and SDSU and (I think) CPP. If there’s an area of the state where you want to live and work, selecting a masters program at a CSU in that area is something you might want to consider. But that’s future you…for now, concentrate on finding the transfer school that will give you the best experience.
Thank you for feedback! I appreciate it!!!
