I already know what classes I’m taking at UC Merced for fall semester, but I wanted to get a head start on the material and read the books.

So how do you figure out which books a professor will be using for the class?

Go to efollett; or google bookstore uc merced. To the left, there is a link for textbooks. If you are new student, you might have to create a log in or use your UC Merced Portal id and password…not entirely sure. Hope that helps!

When you find your required books it is best to buy them online and not from the bookstore. They’re way overpriced IMO. Amazon, half.com, and sometimes ebay. If there is a international version of the book get it since it’s paperback, weighs less, and costs less.

The UCM bookstore, just started listing the ISBN’s. This is very helpful, for tracking down the correct book on Amazon.
Also, don’t be afraid to contact the professor. I have done this several times and more often than not, they have told me a prior edition would be fine…this saves a lot of money!!!
