Getting by with a 3.55 GPA...

My SAT score is really strong (3340 superscore), as are my SATII’s (800 math/800 physics/740 lit/hopefully more), I’ve taken 8 AP’s, I have a strong enough schedule, etc…

Does anyone know colleges that only look at sophomore/junior marks? I’ve heard various rumors that Cornell, Princeton and some other colleges discount freshman year/middle school, but I’ve never been able to track these claims down to credible sources (I guess I could just do some serious research…ROFLAMO). Erase my freshman year/middle school marks, and my GPA is suddenly a 3.8+.

Thanks for any help.

OK, bump. I guess I should have put in a “will chance back”, lol…

Wow, 3340? That’s really strong!

You could track those claims down just by using the search function on College Confidential. Which is what I recommend you do.

Right, right. I was referring to the source of these claims.

Have you looked at the web sites of the colleges and universities that you think operate this way? Have you emailed the admissions offices at those colleges and universities? Have you looked at the other posts of people who’ve identified these colleges and universities on CC to see whether they’re people who generally seem to know what they’re talking about?

It seems odd to me that you’ve seen these names bandied about on College Confidential, but you don’t trust them, so you’re asking whether anybody on College Confidential can confirm the information for you. If you don’t trust College Confidential (and you shouldn’t always), email the admissions offices at these universities and ask them directly. It’s the best way to get an answer you can trust. If you’re afraid they’ll think you’re some kind of lunatic for asking, feel free to tell them your name is Igor Sikorsky. (It’s not my real name, either.)

That’s obvious advice, but quite helpful actually…I guess I was too lazy to do that for some reason, lol.

Thanks.

Good luck, RMIB.
