I recently applied ED to Johns Hopkins. I worked super hard on my application, especially my essays, where I created a piece of art for one of them. I really did my best to depict my deepest passion(s). Yet, I know my SAT scores weren’t the best. I was right about the 50% percentile range in reading and math, and above the 50% in writing. It isn’t that I am bad at reading or math, in fact I would consider myself quite apt. I am currently in my 3rd semester of Calculus now, and I tested out of hs english in my sophomore year. I know all places say they review an app holisitically, but I feel like my personal qualities can’t make up for my lack in test scores. To what extent do test scores matter, or, more importantly, can they make or break you?

That is a difficult question to answer but as long as you’re in range you should stand a good chance. Good luck!

Hopefully it’ll work out for you, but obviously there are no guarantees, especially with a school like Hopkins. I don’t THINK it’d be a make-or-break with a 50% SAT range - I mean, that means 50% of accepted students had equal or lower - but with such a competitive year for admissions… so hard to say.
Anyways, hope you can calm down, and best of luck!! I hope you make it in =)
