Help! I did a dumb thing. My kiddo needed new glasses and she got her eye exam and ordered them from a dept store chain over break. She went back before they came in and I picked up the glasses and got them to her.

Here is the prob… apparently the chain where she lives does not have any stores with a optical dept. No idea why I didn’t check this before hand, I just assumed…

Please give me some advice on how she can get these fitted. Can she go to any optician and will they do it even if she didn’t purchase them there?

Lenscrafters is really nice about doing that. At least mine is. I had a screw that fell out of a pair of glasses that I had gotten at Costco. We live 45 minutes from Costco, so I don’t go that often. After spending a good 30 minutes trying to get the darn thing back in I took it to Lenscrafters (10 minutes away) and the optician happily fixed it in just a couple of minutes.

They have so many glasses, I wonder if they even know who bought what. They didn’t even ask me about where they came from. Cross-posted with justAMom…MY lenscrafters doesn’t care! :)

In my experience, Costco Optical never asks where we got the glasses and does minor adjustments for free. I’ve even had them adjust my cheapo sunglasses that I bought at Nordstrom Rack.

I wouldn’t think twice about this. I’d walk into any optical shop and ask. They’ll help you for free, it’s in their best interest to be nice to a potential client. I even had LensCrafters help my D learn how to put in / take out contacts even though we hadn’t bought them there. This is just part of good business.

Yes, we have never had any problems going to any optical shop. Most are building goodwill & hope you may choose to buy your next pair from them! For Costco, we have brought all sorts of glasses, including those we purchase from the drugstore–readers, sunglasses, you name it. They fix all w/o complaint & have never charged, even when they provide a screw or other parts. They also clean them at no charge. I have also had them serviced at other optical places w/o any charge.

Most places wouldn’t be difficult about fixing glasses. She should just say she’s a student from out-of-town/state and needs to have her glasses fitted. I would think they’d be happy to help a student.
