Getting into Classes for next trimester

How hard was it to get your classes? Did anyone have to end up taking a class that won’t actually go towards your degree requirements?

As a Business Economics major, not too hard at all - but that’s probably because basically any class offered by the Economics department counts toward the major in some way (and people who aren’t Econ majors can’t really take any of the upper division Econ classes, so there’s not too much competition for seats). It’s hard to take classes that don’t count toward anything at all, considering you need 180 quarter units to graduate.

Of course, if I were in the Honors program and got early class picks, I’d probably be able to get my most preferred classes all the time. I’m not, so I just rely on getting slightly earlier picks every quarter as I get more units.

Utilize your first pass efficiently and get three classes you want the most. Then check GOLD frequently. People drop classes pretty often, so be diligent.
