Getting into NYU Stern with 1 D's on transcript?

Do you think its possible for me to get into NYU Stern with a D in AP Physics.
My SAT score is a 2300. SAT Math II = 800 SAT English = 780

My ECs are amazing…and when i mean amazing, I mean really special and unique. I’ve worked with huge corporations.

My current UW GPA is a 3.3, but I think I can get it up to at least a 3.49 before junior year ends.

My weighted GPA is almost a 4.0, but after junior year is over, i should have at least 4.0.
Do you think I have a good chance of getting into NYU Stern

Someone…reply d:

I don’t think a D will warrant a rejection, but it certainly won’t help because many Stern kids have similar stats but with As, but a stand-out essay and amazing ECs given your stats puts you in a good position.

UW GPA of 3.3 is very low for stern. Most applicants typically have 3.75+. You have to remember Stern is highly competitive and most applicants have stellar applications.

what if i ED I? Do you think I will have a higher chance of getting in?

EDI certainly will help since Stern will take students from a smaller pool of applicants.

Is the GPA (unweighted) low because of the “D” in AP physics? If so, you may want to address it directly in some form, like the essay, short answers or additional comments section. (What was the reason? Hope it was not being lazy. Otherwise, address what happened in such a manner as to highlight what challenges you have had to overcome as a person and as a student.) Then focus on your zeal for business/ math, etc. And how special your ECs, personality characteristics, etc., are. Support all of this with the best and most unique recommendations you can. Then pray like everyone else. :)

Certainly, you should give it a shot if it means so much to you. You never know what Admissions will focus on, esp. since all your other credentials seem to be excellent.

Your SAT/subjects are over our average, but your GPA is significantly lower. And trust me when you think you have amazing ECs, some of the stuff you’ll hear other kids talking about having done before they came will just blow your mind.

ED1 will help you, as would strong recommendations and a phenomenal essay.

Why did you get the D?

I got accepted regular decision with an F in AP Bio for my 1st semester grades…although I had straight A’s in all my other classes and I go to a pretty rigorous high school. I wouldn’t feel secure though, because I got rejected from all of my safeties and my dream school.
