Getting into the UW even tougher this year

The UW accepted 62 percent of the more than 17,719 applicants for the fall freshman class. That’s the most selective the university has been in years – and possibly the toughest cut ever, said Philip Ballinger, director of admissions.</p>

<p>It was more difficult to gain entrance this year because the university received 7 percent more applications and accepted fewer students, hoping to enroll a smaller class.</p>
