<p>The rules for independence for financial aid purposes are VERY different than for tax purposes. AND they are not ungodly…they are just the way they are. They have not changed for a LONG time and are very well documented and easy to gain access to for students who need this information. If you don’t meet the criteria, it’s just the way it is. I know it’s upsetting to you, but…it’s the way the system is set up.</p>
