Getting more than 2 teacher recs

<p>I’m applying to MIT, Caltech, Columbia, Cornell, UIUC, Michigan, Purdue and Georgia Tech. I’ve already asked 2 teachers for recs, however I want to ask the lady at my volunteer place to write a rec for me. If I do this, will they read it? Do I have a chance of getting marked down for sending too much stuff?</p>

<p>The first thing you do is check on each of the college websites, if any of them say that they don’t want supplemental information, then don’t send it to them.</p>

<p>For those that will accept supplemental LORs, one is fine IF:

  1. It is an excellent LOR.
    AND
  2. If it addresses something about you that is different from what your teacher or GC LORs discuss.</p>
