I didn’t get into any of my top five schools and was put on Grinnell’s waitlist. I would really really rather go there than any of the other schools I got into. How can I communicate that to the admissions office? Should I get a supplemental rec? Help!!!
No – do not send another rec letter. You should send a note yourself – saying that Grinnell is absolutely your number one choice and if accepted off of the WL, you’ll definitely attend. If your GC has any contacts at Grinnell’s admissions ofc, have him/her convey your sentiments too. Besides that, leave it behind. Act as if you were rejected at Grinnell since the odds of getting a WL offer are slim. Give your heart & energy over to the best option you have. If Grinnell comes calling later, view it as an unexpected birthday gift. But leave it behind. That’s your best course.
