I got a 3 on the AP English Lit. test, which according to UCLA’s AP credit chart (http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm) isn’t good enough to get me out of the Writing I requirement… However, I did get a 720 on the writing section of the SAT and a 33 combined reading/writing score on the ACT… will either of those scores satisfy the writing I requirement? (I tried to search for this information on Google, and the only thing I could find were these out-of-date pages that said that a 720 on the SAT II writing test satisfied Writing I)

The 720 SAT II Writing score does not satisfy the writing I requirement anymore. However, that score on the Writing section of SAT I will do. Also, I am quite sure a 3 on the AP Lit test will be sufficient to grant you your units for Writing I.

I think you need a 4 or 5… not a 3.

If this isn’t dated…

^^^^^^ that’s not true!

You can’t get out of the Writing I req. with a 3 on the AP Eng Test. Getting a 720 on the writing section lets you take some test that can get you out of Writing I.

oh wow…what i said wasnt true was BoelterHall’s post…not your’s zero

after looking at AP credit, though, i would think you need a 4, just to be safe. in any case, your SAT/ACT scores satisfy the requirement

Thanks Toxic… but isn’t the Writing I requirement different from the Entry Level Requirement?

Alexc: Yeah, I vaguely remember hearing something about that… do you know if that test is available to take at orientation?

Oops I am wrong. You would need only a 3 to be exempt from some other exam.

huh. thought it was the same. guess i was wrong

from zero’s post:

based on that, test out.

Yea a 3 gets you out of the Entry Level Requirement thing (so you don’t have to take AWPE thing).
