Getting smell out of leather couch

Our dogs are allowed on the furniture. We clean up regularly so it’s never been a problem but lately I’ve noticed that the leather couch smells like dog all the time. I’ve tried sprinkling baking soda and vacuuming it up but that only helped a little. It’s a soft leather, the color and consistancy of a baseball glove.

Any ideas? Of course I don’t want to ruin the leather but the smell has got to go.

You might try saddle soap.

would febreeze work? It was invented to remove all odors.

have you tried sprinkling Shower to Shower powder on it, letting it sit on it for a day or so, then vacuuming it up.

Agree with srw, saddle soap should do the trick. Make sure it is the foaming type. If the cushions are removable, take them off and clean them also. If not removable, make sure you clean between the crevices really well.

Thank you for the ideas! I will try them.

Just an fyi incase anyone checks this thread…I’ve researched on-line and the consensus seems to be that putting leather furniture out in the sunlight for at least one full day (8 hours) can really work wonders on smells. Our couch is too much of a beast for that to be an option but it might help someone else.
