Getting the permission to be in lab outside usual hours

<p>A few months ago, phillySASer08 said that he worked 30hrs/wk in lab while maintaing full courseload. That must mean that he worked in the early mornings or late evenings outside the usual 9:00am-5:00pm lab time, or even on the weekends when all or most of the lab staff were absent. How do you go about gaining the permission to be in lab anytime you want? </p>

<p>When I was doing summer research as a paid research assistant, I could go there anytime I wanted because I had the lab key (I still have the key btw.) But I don’t know if my PI would let me do this now that I’m no longer a paid research assistant but just a volunteer.</p>

<p>I’m a volunteer in my lab that I work in during the school year, and I’ve got a key to the lab so I can go any time. If I were you, I’d just ask the PI.</p>
