Getting to Dartmouth from NYC Area

What is the best way to get to dartmouth from the NYC area? I live in suburban noth jersey and am looking for ways to get to dimensions. Since it’s about 5 hours away, i dont want my parents to drive there and back twice in 3 days. The dartmouth website says the dartmouth coach and train. But the coach doesnt seem to offer service from nyc to dmouth until may 31st, only from dmouth to nyc. And the train takes about 8 hours. Are there any other options?

You an take a commuter flight from New York to Boston and then take the Dartmouth Coach to Dartmouth from Logan Airport.

that gets expensive.

I would recommend driving up. You can’t drive yourself as a HS senior?

Dartmouth Coach leaves from the Yale Club daily and goes straight up to Hanover - buy tickets ASAP as it will probably sell out pretty quickly around Dimensions.

Contact admissions. they always have buses leaving from NYC (usually around the Penn Starion area) for dimensions and the DOC trips. It will be a nominal fee, but you will connect with other prospies.

I believe the admissions office is not chartering buses this year for Dimensions - I’d jump on that D-Coach asap.

You can go from White Plains,NY to Lebanon, NH (right next to Hanover) for 320.00 roundtrip…

Take about an hour each way. Just another option…

i looked at the coach. The coach leaves NYC at 1:30pm. I suppose that I would arrive at Dartmouth at around 6-7pm. Would I miss anything from arriving that late?

Also the coach leaves Hanover at 6:30 AM on the 24th. Are there any activities on the day of the 24th, that I would miss? I know there is last year’s schedule on the Dartmouth website but I am out of the country right now and am I having trouble opening the PDF. Any help would be appreciated!

bump 10 char

Call Dartmouth to find out. I’m waiting on them to provide me the details of the transportation they are providing me; it’s also Dartmouth Coach from NYC they told me.

Are they really not chartering buses for Dimensions this year? My son rode up last year with a friend and friend’s parents who had not yet seen Hanover. Otherwise he has been happy with the Dartmouth Coach for transportation. It is very convenient (drops you right at the Hanover Inn and next to Grand Central in NYC) and also comfortable. He took the Amtrak once but it is a long ride and then you need a cab or ride from White River Junction.

The alternative is a Bolt bus or Chinatown bus to South Station in Boston, then the Dartmouth Coach which runs every 2 hours from there. That option is available all day long and is I believe cheaper too. It does take longer than the direct bus of course but I am told it is easy to do.

I’m sure there will be transportation provided from the train station for Dimensions as well.
