I’m Mitchell from Chicago, Illinois (well technically I’m in the suburbs, but we don’t need to be too precise here). After visiting Yale first time during Bulldog Days, I fell in love and sent my reply card right after I got home. My major is undecided because my interests are all over the place. I think when I applied, I put down Economics/Engineering/History, haha which is equivalent to “I have no clue as to what the hell I want to do”. High school is such a pain in the butt now and I’m only looking forward to 3 things - 1) Prom, 2) Graduation, and 3) YALE!!!.

My AIM screen name is also just ‘athlonmj’ so please feel free to IM me. I’m usually online procrastinating anyways and meeting new people (especially yalies) is ALWAYS a plus. Looking forward to seeing all you guys next year!

Well, I guess I’ve put this off long enough…

I’m Andrew from Columbus, Ohio (and I’m technically from the suburbs too). My parents always jokingly told me when I was little that I’d go to Yale or Harvard, knowing full well that it wouldn’t happen. (Well, at least the Harvard part was true…HARVARD SUCKS!) The last time my school sent someone to an Ivy was well before I was born, but hey, I guess that needed to be changed. Everyone here goes to Ohio State, it seems, but I hated that idea. I fell in love with Yale gradually - it was partially the result of my reading far too many architecture books written by Yalies - but never thought I’d be able to get in. I decided I wanted to go to Yale toward the end of my sophomore year, then visited the summer after my junior year and was blown away. I applied EA and was accepted, and I am unbelievably excited to be a Yalie in the fall.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go back to daydreaming about Yale’s Gothic spires…if you haven’t gotten the idea yet, I plan to major in architecture.

I’m Tyce from Chicago (the northern suburbs really). Looks like I’ll be joining the collection of anglophiles and theater lovers. At the moment I’ll probably major in philosophy, theater studies, or english. I’m big into Shakespeare, the plays of Richard Greenberg, and musical theater (especially Sondheim and a few off-broadway rock musicals). I also live on music, especially jazz, blues, post-rock (Cursive, Mars Volta, etc.), and good folk. Bad folk might be the most disgusting musical creation next to smooth jazz. And I can’t wait to start getting e-mail from all the random groups I signed up for at Bulldog Days. I know I’ll never actually join Kendo club, but it just looked so fun…

Does anyone else here do Capoeira? I’ve heard there’s a good Mestre in New Haven, but I can’t tell whether he teaches at the university or not.

Wow it seems there are a lot of theater, Shakespeare lovers, and anglophiles in the class of 2009… I’ll introduce myself - My name is Elina, I’m 18 y old and live in New London, CT (like an hour from Yale!) I like the sciences - particularly biology (genetics, microbio, neuro) and physics and will probably major in MCDB or MB&B. I also love philosophy, international/cultural studies, Russian lit, and have a deep love for jazz/blues music. Right now, I’m procrastinating studying for my AP exams, all of which I’m ridiculously unprepared for. Anyway, I can’t wait to meet all of you guys this fall!!!

Hey everyone! I’m actually not in the class of '09 (though I hope to be in '10), but because you were all talking about British accents, I had to comment. Yeah, I’m totally obsessed to and I fell in love with Yale even more when I heard Yale has a organization called The Lizzies devoted exclusively to serving Anglophiles. They have their own building on the campus and once you enter you are expected to act as though you were in Britain (speaking with an accent and all). They also offer high tea several times a week. Sounds amazing.

Hi, My name is Joe and I’m from Charlottesville, VA…home of UVa. I am “planning” to major in Film Studies…maybe double major with American Studies. I’m very in to film of all types (classic, independent, foreign…). I’m also a big fan of government, psychology, philosophy and literature in general. I’m told I have very eclectic/weird tastes in music (The Magnetic Fields, Arcade Fire, U2, Elliot Smith, Bjork, Belle and Sebastian, Cake, Jem, Iron and Wine, Jeff Buckley etc.) I’m quite well adjusted despite being a bit of a West Wing fanatic; luckily, apparently CampusDems get together and watch it. I never really though about the reality of going to Yale until I found out I was accepted. I’m looking forward to having a chance to fall in love with the school (at least it can’t dissapoint!). I’m looking forward to meeting you all in the fall.

PS Hey Calds! Shouldn’t you be doing something other than stalking my posts?

Although if Alan Alda’s character wins the election next season, it might call for a get-together of the Campus Republicans instead. Then again, if next season is going to be as predictable as this last one, I doubt that will happen.

Hi, I’m Shara and I’m from Long Island, NY. Although I have tentative plans of majoring in biology, I know I’ll probably change my mind a few times before four years is up. I have loved doing laboratory research for the last few years, and right now, medical school seems to be in my future. However, I’m open to law or political science as well, since I like to argue. I’d love to join the debate team, but sadly I have no experience whatsoever. I’m also interested in writing opinions or features for the school paper and joining the badminton team.

I applied early to Yale, and after getting in, did not even apply anywhere else. For me, the choice was easy. How could I say no to the top-notch professors, residential college system, gorgeous architecture, and fierce loyalty that all Elis have? I’m sorry I didn’t have the chance to meet you guys during Bulldog Days, but I’m looking forward to meeting you all in the fall. If anyone wants to chat, my aim sn is microglial18.

It makes me so excited to see everyone making note of Yale’s great architecture. None of my friends have any interest in architecture whatsoever, so I don’t ever get to talk about it. sniffles You guys are awesome! Haha…:D
