Is it just luck? I’d like to live in new rez, but I understand that there’s limited spots (about 700), so how does this work? How could I increase my chances?

Get a scholarship, thats about it.

What happened to the prices for the different Rezs?? They changed pretty dramatically it seems. I had previously chosen Solin as my first choice, mainly due to the fact it was one of the cheaper Rezs. At the time New Rez was one of the most expensive. Now its opposite. New Rez is cheaper. And I think Douglas’s price dropped by half. Why is this?

Good question. This could be a result of a shift in popularity, modification of food plans, or even renovations.

FYI, New rez is still the most expensive for a regular double. And i don’t have the figures but I doubt Douglas’ price was 12k, they are small, uncomfortable rooms, but then again thats not all you are paying for. They have all dropped and I think this is a result of more accommodation acquisitions, as well as a response to the market… people can choose to live off-site for cheaper so the school complies.

Its hard to compare Solin, with Douglas, with New Rez, with Upper Rez, with the MORE houses, etc. These are each unique and the prices vary for distinct reasons. Some of these are apartments and understandably would reflect the rates of nicer apartments. Some of these are small double rooms, and thus the rates reflect that. Each is so different that either you will not be ripped of at all, or will (most likely) be ripped off at all of them.

To the OP, the process is entirely based on luck, except for major scholarship students (they get what they want). Here’s the description of the Lottery process:
