Gift for financial aid counselor?

Would it be appropriate for me to give a gift to the financial aid counselor at my sons school? My son was originally admitted to spring semester - then moved to a fall admit. Even though I know it is the counselors job to help with financial aid I would like to acknowledge his assistance with a small gift. I was thinking maybe a small plant for his office or a gift card (maybe to a local restaurant).

I am thinking it may not be appropriate for any kind of gift with value, but you could write him a thank you note and write his boss an appreciative note. Maybe even his boss’ boss.

Thank you LastMinuteMom! That is a good suggestion!

i think it’d be nice to send a potted plant to his office–perhaps to the office rather than to him. He might feel awkward if the card had only his name on it and there may be ‘rules’ against gifts of value. In any case, a note from the student is certainly appropriate.
