I am wrapping up a co-op this week and was wondering if I should get my boss a gift at the end of it? I actually was considering writing a thank you note for everyone I work with which I think I’ll do, but I have one particular person I worked with who acted as a mentor and a friend to me. Should I get him a gift? If so, what would be appropriate?
A small gift would be appropriate. Knowing I guzzle sodas during the day, my last intern gave me a small soda refrigerator for my desk so I would not have to spend money on the building’s convenience store. A baseball hat from his favorite sports team, or some other similar personal item would work well. You might consider sending it after the co-op is over with a thank you note instead of bring it in on the last day.
