Do you have access to enough digital photos to make them a small photo album or calendar, from Shutterfly (who always have discounts) for example? It could be either from the first year of marriage, or their lives together overall.
I really like personalized paper products like cocktail napkins, guest towels for powder room, disposable coasters, etc. Those can be ordered with their name or their married monogram which is last name initial in the center, wife’s first initial on the left and husband’s first initial on the right side. I’ve ordered gifts from The Stationery Studio several times and have also used Gifts in 24 when quicker turnaround is needed.
One year, I made up a binder as Christmas gifts for my mom and mother in law.
I asked each set of siblings for a list of "remember when"s. Some were stories, other were in the “Remember the time that the dog ate the Thanksgiving dinner?” variety.
I inserted clip art, printed them up and put them into page protectors in a binder.
For our 1st anniversary, my parents gave us a pack of toilet paper and a couple rolls of paper towels. Practical, but I think tickets to a show would nicer.
We met for dinner yesterday so I was short on time and unable to consider gifts that needed to be personalized or ordered in advance.
In the end, I search on Crate & Barrel, thinking they might have some sort of papier-mâché item. In this way, I stumbled across cheese papers, so I bought a set of those as well as found a book on Californian wines (“The New California Wine”) at Barnes & Noble (they have made many trips to California wine country).
My mother gave us a small print on parchment. Had kind of a Gustav Klimt look to it, but I’m sure it was not expensive (she had given us a very generous wedding gift).
