Gift for runners?

D is turning 25 soon and I was thinking of gifts for her. So hard to come up with ideas. She’s a runner - for xmas, she asked her Dad to get her a stick of some kind - apparently great massage for your calves after a long run. Didn’t even know these things existed.

So, I am here asking the CC community for advice. What gifts/accessories are good for runners? She has a fit-bit already.

What bout clothes…lululemon or Athleta or something like that. Probably would need to be a gift card.

I got my kid Athleta long running pants…she needed them for cooler weather…and they were way out of her budget! She loved them.

A good exercise/jogging bra that provides good and comfortable support? Great new pair of shoes at running shoe store? Belt or armband to hold valuables while running?

Massage stick. Any runners store has them. Other ideas foam roller, Road ID, Garmin 235 or Fenix watch. Socks. Can’t recommend apparel but I’m sure others will chime in!

an armband to hold her phone in while running? My H and D run, I trained D to have her phone with her while running races, especially long ones, in case she had issues during the race or couldn’t find her group at the end. That came in handy last fall when she was running a marathon and got ill during the race and had to drop out. She called us and H was able to go pick her up in the car.

I think clothes are a personal choice…which is why I suggested a gift card.

If you live near DD, do a shopping outing to the Athleta or Lululemon stores…and let her have a little shopping spree.

@MomofWildChild any ideas here?

Good running socks are expensive and are always welcomed!

Sounds like a foam roller might be what she got for xmas.

I really have to say don’t buy her any clothes or definitely NOT shoes unless she tells you exactly what to buy. These items are all VERY specific to what the individual likes in their exercise wear. From fabric material to length to color to # of zippered pockets to…everything!!!

If you know she has a favorite running shop or apparel store go with the gift card - $$$ to buy what you want in terms of exercise wear or accessories is like GOLD!!!

Even with running socks - what does she like? Certain thickness? Certain height? Certain brand? All not created equal!!!

I bought my D some LED armbands that work like slap bracelets and are great for Running at night. I like them better. Than reflective things which I don’t thing show up wells until you’re right up on them. Agree about high quality running socks

Awesome water bottles for anyone who runs distances in warm weather:

CEP compression sleeves for post run recovery or just for running.

Gift card for the local runners shop. I can never really say what running gear I really want until I’ve seen it, or tried it, or suddenly it just comes into my head that I need it. And running gear is pretty personalized, so it’s hard to pick for someone else.

But if the gift card route seems like a cop out, then yes, socks are the safest. Or massage items - the Stick, a textured foam roller, a thera-cane, Trigger Point makes a lot of cool things… but these are also kinda based on personal preferences or injuries at the time.

Some other ideas: subscription to Runners World, a gym membership/yoga/pilates classes, running headphones, sunglasses, or registration fee or training plan for an upcoming race.

Oiselle gift card

I have these (some gloves and the sling style for warmer weather):

They work very well!

Does she run any races? I wonder if there’s a way to give her a gift card toward the entry fees (they start to add up after a while…)

^There is an option like that from one of the local running stores where I live.

Also pay her dues for a local running club.

Gift card for a good sports doctor or PT.
