To make a long story short: my former roommate and best friend at college had to transfer home. She wasn’t happy with the decision but there was no other choice for her. Her birthday is at the end of August, so I want to give her a birthday/good luck at your new school gift. Any ideas? She already has gear from the new school (shirts, mugs, etc) so not that.

Any chance that you two could invite her to spend some time with you over the summer, or you go spend time with her? Since you’re such good friends, I’m sure she’s really missing you and feeling like she’ll lose her friends from college.

If a visit isn’t possible, do you have pictures of you together? Get a nice “Friends” frame.

axw- Fortunately, I do get to see her since we live pretty close to each other.
Whenhen- She’s not very materialistic and never mentions things she wants, which is why I’m finding ideas to be difficult :(

Hmmm…Gift card to a coffee shop, restaurant or small shop near her; if you like to read, an Amazon gift card so you can pick a book together and both download/discuss; tickets to do something together (concert, show); or a nice dinner out together?

For people who are not materialistic, time is a great present…concert tickets for both of you, a restaurant GC to a place you might both like, something like paddle boarding or kayaking lessons… Something fun you could do together. Living social and group on sometimes have good deals on activities.

Movie tickets for two. Maybe you can go together to a movie.
My daughter’s friends sometimes take each other out for dinner for their birthdays. No place too fancy as it has to fit into a college budget. ANd the real point is really to spend some fun time together.
