My nephew who will be a HS sophomore this fall just had scoliosis surgery. He is an active boy who just finished his eagle scout project. He will have to spend the rest of the summer in the house and then no physical activity for 6 months.
I want to send him a care package. I figure computer and video games are covered, so I am looking for ideas, all I can think of is board games.
Books, Amazon gift cards, maybe a Hulu or Amazon subscription if he doesn’t have one… Is he into anything “crafty” like woodworking that he could do with his hands? I’d actually stay away from board games, as they require multiple people to play and realistically, he will probably be spending a good chunk of time alone and the time that he is with people talking, eating, etc.
Hey, it worked for Ringo, who, learned how to drum because he was bored during a 2-year hospital recovery from tuberculosis, so you never know where it could lead
I’d make sure you check what physical limitations he might have before considering something like a guitar.
Good luck! I don’t have any ideas but I do know how much it sucks to be homebound as a young person.
ETA: actually I did think of something. I know you say he has games covered but see if he might like a subscription to Gamefly. It’s like Netflix for games.
