Much the same is true in the United States, of course.

All the more reason for sites like this one! and the wonderful help from students and parents. It helps level the playing field. (My DD attended a public high school where there was only 1 counselor for 700 students-CC was invaluable to us!)

I’m glad to hear that you think College Confidential has been helpful. It’s been helpful to me too. Yes, I didn’t get helpful advice from my high school counselor, so it’s good to know that in this generation there is a plan B for students who don’t get good advice from their high schools. (My oldest son does have a high school counselor who gives good advice, but not everyone enjoys that advantage.)

You can’t leave it to overworked school counselors (from public or private school) so parents have to do their homework. CC is prominent on the bibliography list.
