Gifts for a golfer/runner?

BIL is turning 50 next month. He’s an avid golfer and runner (used to run half marathons). Looking for good gift ideas for him - preferably something small and easily transportable since I will be taking it to him (he lives overseas).

Thanks!

Would he use/like a fitbit or comparable item?

My H & S love their Garmin golf wrist watch type things…basically a GPS for golf, showing distance to hole, yardage, etc. Like a caddy on your wrist.

Golf towels (the type with the little clip) from favorite and/or famous golf courses embroidered with their logo? A nice leather caddy to hold tees, ball markers, etc. that attaches to his bag? A sleeve of customized golf balls (printed with whatever you choose)?

My husband loves those shirts that wick away moisture and/ or are wind resistant.

I second the Garmin approach watch; my husband says it is the best gift we’ve ever given him.

Here’s a whole website devoted to golf gadgets: https://www.golftech.com/

Runners can always use good socks! They are not cheap!

Make sure he doesn’t already have a Garmin before you buy him one, because most runners I know have owned one for years.

Silverscent tees from Lululemon are the runners’ best friend - they really do not stink. These shirts pack very compactly, too, and dry quickly (a bonus to someone living in a small space).

Yup, good socks cost a small fortune! :)

I have no ideas for you but am interested in the “good socks”. Can you tell me a brand??

This is one of the options:

https://www.thorlo.com/activity/sport/running-socks

I also love Injinji toe socks. They might look funny, but they save my toes from blisters. :)

I was also going to suggest Thorlos and/or a nice long sleeved shirt for cooler weather.

Or a book? “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen” and “The Lore of Running” (less well known) are two on DH’s shelf.

I love Thorlo socks! They often have promotions–buy 3, get 1 free! Have also gifted a nice watch that clips to a golf bag.

The Garmin approach watch is for golf not for running; depending on the model, it has up to 38,000 international golf courses and of course a zillion US courses pre-loaded, GPS picks up which course you are on and gives you yardage info at a glance.

I have to say thorlos gave me blisters when running. They are very thick. I like feeturers socks best and smartwool

The garmin golf watch is pretty expensive, I don’t know what your budget is. Golf items are kinda tricky, my H is pretty picky about his stuff, even tees and golf balls. And in general, he is not picky about his stuff.

Would a guy like a flip belt? I love mine. I also covet an Icebreaker pullover.

I just thought of something my H appreciated. He loved getting a ball marker and golf towel from the university that our kid attended. My D bought it at her bookstore and it was something easy to put in her suitcase.

My son adores his Garmin golf watch. I also buy him engraved ball markers and personalized golf balls every Christmas. I put a little message on them and he gets a huge kick out of them. Personalizationmall.com

I got thorlo socks as a gift and gave them away…just too thick (and I have narrow feet) to be comfortable in my running shoes. I stick with smartwool . Love my garmin running watch. Garmin golf would prob. be great.

Love the Injinji socks. Hate sorting them.

Lol!!! I buy Injinjis in colors so no two pairs are alike. Sorting is much easier that way! :)
