Gifts for adult children and their SOs

My kids like to ski, so I usually get them a gift certificate that will cover lodging for 2-3 nights at a ski lodge that they like. Another option is to buy a gift certificate for dinner at a restaurant that I know they enjoy too. H and I also gifted our frequent flier miles one time when I knew that one of my kids wanted to visit Prague.

I have Not finished reading this thread. Forgive me If someone else has said this already.
If your S or D are out of the “I need socks” period then think about doing some research and buying them a gift card to a great restaurant.
I have even been able to do this in little little towns in the Midwest. Just took some research! Just about everywhere has hidden gems now.

Timely thread as I was in the thick of this, with both s’s and older s’s gf coming for thanksgivukkah.

So far I’ve gotten all of them the Merino base layers (top and bottom) because they all wanted them. I have a set and its great for skiing and other cold weather events.

Ordered a bunch of stuff for them on the Coach outlet website. Lots of nice things and small, which is key. They have to be able to take it back with them, and fit it in small apartments.

I saw a nice scarf at a craft show yesterday. Think I’ll go back and get it today for the GF.

Just reading this thread has reminded me that I think I have a gift card with a generous amount on it that I was given some time ago - no idea where it is now,( probably depreciated significantly in value) so will have to search …which is why I don’t like gift cards and would prefer cash though I understand the instinct that a gift card is somehow more of a “gift” than cash. From my perspective the gift is often to the retailer or restaurant.

Last spring – because of last minute schedule problems – I gave daughter theater tickets that my husband and I couldn’t use. She ended up inviting three friends to join her and they had a blast.

So this year I suggested she choose a play she wants to see and invite her girlfriends and I will purchase tickets. Even though daughter attends school in a large city with lots of entertainment options, theater is something that doesn’t fall into the typical student budget.

I do give gift cards for things I know they like (clothing, movies, restaurants, etc.) I found some dish towels I’m also giving everyone this year (they can also be used as a bar towel, hand towel) that come in a nice pouch. I got one for S1’s girlfriend too. Free shipping if you buy at least two. http:[catstudio dishtowels](http://www.catstudio.com/pages/catstudio%20dishtowels.html)
