I think we may have had a thread like this years ago but thought it would be good to start a new one.

I’ll start…

Tickets to a sporting event - I did basketball the other year, may do hockey this year.

H is pretty easy to buy for.
His bd is in the spring- I think last year I bought him clothes from JCrew and some rare Cds.( demo/ boot leg tapes)

Sporting stuff is good- lift tickets, etc.

Oh and just remembered I invited D’s boyfriend to spend xmas with us.
aack!

I have the bd and xmas within 3 weeks of each other, and then my bd 3 weeks after!! so we have 2x as much stuff to come up with at once!

I always like events the best- tickets to something usually- I really don’t know D’s boyfriend well though, Only have met him once- but sporting events or music I think would be good.

I could ask her if he likes Pearl Jam ;)

My birthday is the only one in the fall- both the girls & H are all in May.
nice to have it spread out a bit.

For those of us with tall guys (or girls) , I ordered a book for a Christmas gift that had great reviews. The Tall Book: A Celebration of Life From on High.

Servmom, what a great idea!!! I have 2 guy friends that are over 6 ft 5 and have been trying to decide what to get them for christmas! I’ll have to order two of them!!

Fendergirl, Great! Husband , sons, nephew, etc. are all 6’5" plus so I thought this would be a good idea for gifts. Hope it is as good as the reviews indicate!

Yeah, the reviews look awesome. I definitely will have to order that.

I got Dh a flighter pilot simulation experience–he loved it. I’m thinking about an indoor skydiving thing for this Christmas.

I just asked the boy tonight what he wanted for his birthday and he said he didn’t know and that I should surprise him… but that if he comes up with anything he’ll let me know.

Mom2M-I gave H and the boys the indoor skydiving experience 2 years ago and they loved it.

[Introductory Flight Lesson](<a href=“Your Freedom to Fly - AOPA”>Your Freedom to Fly - AOPA)

Both our boys LOVED it and still talk about it till this day, although they never pursued it further.

gadgets, and more gadgets.

I got Dh a flighter pilot simulation experience

That sounds * really* expensive!
At least I have been to a number of auctions where time in the ( Boeing) flight simulator is up for bid & they always go for quite a few $$$$$$$$. However H, * works* @ Boeing and has been in the flight simulator a time or two already as part of " work". ;)

He would love something like heli-skiing, but frankly, I don’t think his 55 year old bod is up to it. ( I also saw actual * flight lessons* for sale on livingsocial, but he said he wasnt interested)
I think I am going to get him some Patagonia- the fleece/flannel, not the region.

( do they have one of those books for < 5’8" men? )

“gadgets, and more gadgets.”

This works well in my family. Every gift from B&H so far was a huge hit.

What about Indoor Skydiving? My kids did it and loved it. Here is a description:

Once suited up, your group will be escorted into the flight chamber where each participant will take turns flying one-on-one with help from your Flight Instructor. The flight chamber is a 40 foot high, vertical wind tunnel that simulates the freefall of real skydiving as it produces airspeeds of up to 160 mph. During a 30 minute flight session, participants will take turns leaning into the wind and flying indoors! Each participant will enjoy an average of 2 minutes of flight time - the equivalent freefall of almost 3 skydives!

Ive never heard of that- but I was talking to a woman the other day who takes trapeze lessons. * that* is something my youngest would like.( she & my H are the big adrenaline junkies in our family)

The indoor skydiving sounds pretty cool though- but not for me- I need to be connected to the ground so much that I would prefer to be * barefoot* 100% of the time.
:)

( but I do like the water & I haven’t gone river rafting for a loong time…)

Getting DH the altimeter watch he wants for his birthday this month. He’s big into hiking.

I figured it out. For Birthday, I’m going to get him a wooden framed Galileo Thermometer. They seem to be about 40-50 bucks. I just have to decide on the size. He’s a giant science geek so that’s perfect. I think we may also go to the Franklin Institute for the day and out for dinner.

For Christmas, I have a baseball jersey, a book on beer gardening (he’s got hobbies of both gardening and beer making, this is a book on growing your own garden of beer herbs and hops), and a t-shirt so far.

For birthdays and anniversaries, DH and often skip the traditional gift and celebrate with a night together at the local dinner theater. When the kids were little, my Mom threw in free babysitting.
