Hello all.
I was curious if anyone else on the board liked Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. I was thinking that, if there isn’t already something like it, start up a club for it when we arrive in the fall. The Idea of a club was inspired by a visit to MIT where they had a musical theater group that did many Gilbert and Sullivan plays. So if anyone is interested or has any ideas, post, please, I’m really quite curious.

Thank you all

I am the very model of a modern major general.

Is that Gilbert and Sullivan?

I don’t know what I’m talking about, nevermind.

no, you’re quite right, that is from Gilbert and Sullivan. It’s from the opera Pirates of Penzance. Quite funny actually.
I’m glad i found at least someone else with some vague notion of what i’m talking about.

Though of course, that song really took off when Tom Lehrer parodied it as “The Element Song”…

very true. I’m thinking of memorizing it before i head off to chicago, since I already know the original.
