Girls applying to Barnard RD! :)

GREAT stats!!

I applied! Never been to Barnard…I’ve only ever seen it as I walked by across the street from Columbia, though I would love to visit. Anyone know if Barnard has a free accepted students fly out, or anything?

They do have an admitted student’s weekend (or two), but they do not pay to fly you out. You will have the opportunity to stay with someone on campus, though.

This may, quite possibly, mark one week from when most applicants shall hear back.

Only 7 more days, WHOOT!

oh bummer. thanks for the info though @cmm. and good luck to all applicants :)

Yeah. I am thinking most may well know by this time next week. That is if the Barnard adcom does it the way they have done for the past several years.

Best to you all!

I just called Barnard admissions (I thought what the heck) and they said they cannot tell me when they are releasing decisions. They will be mailed though.

Oh those elusive NY women…

I’m a current student and I just got this email from the Barnard administration/admissions office:

Welcome back from spring break! At the end of this week, we will mail our admission notifications to students who applied to next year’s first-year class. We need your help! It’s time to welcome the future class of 2015!

In addition to hosting students overnight, there are two great ways to get involved:

*Call admitted students to congratulate and encourage them to visit our campus.

*Write postcards to admitted students and share your enthusiasm for Barnard College.

… So you might be getting a call or a postcard from me! :)

Yep… The end of this week is what i was thinking! So, international students should be getting e-mails, I am guess, Thursday or Friday. US applicants who live nearby could begin getting letters Friday or Saturday. If don’t, though, don’t freak. Past years indicate that this stuff can be VERY hit-and-miss as to the timing of the arrival of the packages according to geographic location.

Can’t wait to see all the acceptances come rolling in!!! :)

grrrr I hate being on the west coast!

It’s SO hard to wait! I check the mail every day hoping it will be there, but I guess by next week we’ll know! good luck everyone!! As soon as you hear, please post your stats/decision. I know Barnard is a reach for me, so I will probably be posting bad news, (though of course I’d LOVE to get in! Barnard is the best!) but I can’t wait to hear everyone’s results! (and I’m hoping that they’re good!!)

only a few more days!!

Barnard is a reach for me too (3.8 UW/4.1 W, 27 ACT)! I tried to show my (extreme) interest, show off my extras, and ace the essays. We’ll see I guess. Good luck to all of you!

has anyone received the Barnard catalog? I got it about a week ago. it’s a beautiful black book that’s completely biodegradable

I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon! It’s going to be *so *weird holding a tangible decision; this whole process has kind of felt like playing house, applying to all these schools of my fantasies but now they’re actually physically going to tell us whether we can go or not aghhh stress aghh I probably can’t afford Barnard anyway aghh good luck everyone.

^ couldn’t have said it better.

Oh, and I got a black book aswell, but that was months and months ago because I subscribed for their stuff. It smells really good! Well, be me, anyway. :)

@kenzie, hey! I live in/near Seattle too. :slight_smile:
I got my acceptance to University of Chicago last week & was absolutely thrilled – didn’t expect to get in there, but I still really want to hear back from Barnard. If I get into both I think it may come down to financial aid packages…I’m going to be super torn.
My stats are 4.0 UW, 2220, prospective English/poli sci major. :)

loopleeka- I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch for you! your GPA is great!! your ACT isn’t stellar, but whatever, I bet your ECs and essays will overshadow that (don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad ACT, just not amazing like your GPA!).

I wish I’d showed more interest, I just didn’t know how. I requested info from their website, and when I had a schedule change, I emailed the admissions woman for my state and got no reply. (I got one from NYU the next day, and since it’s such a big school, I was surprised. But I never get one from Barnard, which kind of worries me…they’d probably already nixed me and put me in the no pile!!) and since it’s in NYC (I live pretty far away), my parents won’t let me visit unless I’m accepted. that will help a lot I bet that you showed so much interest!

anyway, I have an okay SAT (around a 2000, which was in the 90+ percentile but seeing others’ stats on CC have made me less confident about this score and barnard made me send my lower one too along with my bad SAT IIS) but a not-so-okay GPA-3.8 w (I don’t know what it is uw but it’s got to be bad!) because I chose some classes I shouldn’t have and yadiyada…good thing is I’m at a pretty competitive high school…but still!!

well thanks so much! good luck to you too, I really hope you (we!) get in  this is so nerve racking!! a few more days!

weird I didn’t get that black book :frowning: but I subscribed too…even though my chances of getting in are extremely slim, I’d love to look through it. I love Barnard!

anyway I can’t wait to hear everyone’s decisions! good luck! hopefully some people will start hearing Friday and we’ll all know around Tues!!

I got a copy of the black book on Monday! Thought it was strange that they would send it so close to decision time, I just hope they don’t follow it up with a rejection letter…hahahah :/. I received one last year also.

@lorrainedelis

Lol, don’t forget, I’m trying for this with a 490 in math. :)

Honestly girl, I would kill for you SAT score.

The cool thing about Barnard is that the committee on admissions looks at you as a person, and doesn’t put all of its focus on an individual bit of your records and achievements. From what I’ve seen with the other accepted EDers, we all had different test scores, essays, and extra curricular activities; there wasn’t a single “standard” that we seemed to fall under. Well, besides our being an incredibly awesome group of women. :)

I know its hard, but try not to be discouraged by the achievements of others around you! For every person whose scores you envy, theres another women out there wishing their records were more like your own. Trust me, its not just you freaking out. this time in December (week before letters went out!) we were all in a constant state of panic and nerves. That being said, take a deep breath, try not to think too much about it (as if), and good luck to you all!!! (it’s almost over!)
