girls doin engineerin at cmu

hey ppl,
just wanted to know u ppl’s opinion on this on whether girls doing engineerin are at an advantage/disadvantage of ne kind…(considerin the population thing at cmu is like 32% or so girls and 68% guys …though im not complainin neways ;)

ok…lemme start with 1 myself…some companies want to show an equal proprtion of males and females in their comapnies…so being female helps there!

LOL! girl power in the true sense ;)

woah…they removed her(future wharton woman’s) suggestion!
newayz ppl get a life…u dont need to be a woman to answer this!!!

Just a suggestion for you – and please take this in the constructive sense in which it is given. If you want to be successful in a male-dominated field, it is helpful if you learn to express yourself with the written word more professionally. Writing in a teenage-slang form immediately impacts your credibility and maturity.

Best of luck to you.

truly sorry for sounding juvenile…was just tryin to get a bit of spirit around…will avoin it in the future

At CMU you’ll probably enjoy some attention and being a girl might be an advantage. In the work force I’d say it is about even.

Don’t worry so much about gender. Out in the real world you might meet some sexist people out there but they usually don’t matter and the educated ones that do matter will mostly likely be willing to accept you for who you are (your skills and ability to contribute to the company).

The business and law fields are usually a bit more sexist than the engineering and science fields.

If you’re better than the guys, they have to respect you.
