if a child is outstanding, which one to choice in the following???

I recommend this student:
[] No basis _ [] With Reservation _ [] Fairly Strongly _
[] Strongly [] Enthusiastically

What are you talking about? Your post doesn’t make sense,

I have corrected it!
thanks a lot!

I still don’t understand what you want to know. If the question is “is this student an outstanding student?”, the person completing it would need to indicate which answer most agrees with how HE feels. So of the person STRONGLY agrees that the student is outstanding, that is what he would check.

What exactly IS the question requiring this answer?

I’m assuming the question is along the lines of “how would you recommend this student” and Soochow believes the student is outstanding.

No Basis - you don’t know the student well enough to have an opinion of him/her
With Reservation - you don’t feel the student is well qualified
Fairly Strongly - you think this student is above average
Strongly - you think this student is very capable
Enthusiastically - you recommend this student very highly (this would be your “outstanding”)

I never realized how nuanced ratings can be until I tried to “translate” this. Hope it helps!

I personally think this scale is missing a step between “With Reservations” and “Fairly Strongly.” Rating scate inflation, anyone?
