Give it to me Straight. Is it better to take a W, and retake over the winter session?

I am a Biochemistry student at a community college, and I fell short. There’s no other way to put it. I have learned the error of my ways, but while that may be true, I still am tragically failing my first semester of Calculus and there is no hope to even pull off a C. I need to know whether or not it is a good idea to study extremely hard for the remainder of the semester on all things related to calculus through Khan Academy and other related mediums. and retake the course over the winter break. All this in the hope that I can go on to Calculus 2, having hopefully received an A in the winter course, and better prepared myself in a mathematical sense.

Some stats:
-My GPA is a 3.44, but that is due to the fact that I had a bad family accident. With the addition of another 15 unit semester having received a 4.0, it would jump to a 3.6.
-I am planning on going to medical school as well.
