<p>The more I look at these threads, the more nervous I become about my own admissions process. I hope I can get some good advice here.
I’m a senior at an extremely competitive, small, all-girl school in a densely populated metropolitan area. I am of spanish and caucasian heritage. I wouldn’t be concerned about my GPA if I hadn’t transferred to my school in my sophomore year and suffered greatly for it (my average dropped from an 89 to an 84!). However, in my junior year I rectified my slump (88 avg., all-honors classes). I have a pretty solid 3.5 with the sophomore year … incident. Currently I take all-honors courses, one AP (my school offers 4) and am doing quite well. My ranking was botched because my school chose not to include my freshman year grades in the GPA they ranked everyone by. My extracurrics are really good: I started my own political consulting business this past summer, attended a presitigious summer program, volunteer at an inner-city school, am the president of three clubs, going to New Hampshire for the primaries as a result of my work with a local organization, I recently got a callback from Ford Models and relations are still pending, Head of Public Relations with a widely successful political organization, successful golfer, employee of a respected clothing store, contract researcher for a paint company, and I’m going to get a great recommendation from a state Senator who I helped become re-elected. I hope that will suffice for the PoliSci major. My ACT Composite is 29 (poor Science score), and my writing was a 10. I wrote an awesome essay for college and an entertaining “explaination of academic performance”, which reiterated what I just said about my academic circumstances. </p>
